Work description

Crops: Cut flowers including but not limited to: annuals, perennials, ornamentals shrubs, and greenhouse plants. Farm Worker duties may include but are not limited to: plant roots, seeds, plugs, and bulbs. Prepare indoor and outdoor growing areas by repairing, laying, cleaning, and moving plastic, pounding posts and stakes. Filling soil into growing containers and trays, planting seeds and cuttings, watering, moving trays from one growing area to another. Transplanting plants and shrubs by hand or with mechanical transplanter. Weeding with hands or with hand tools. Stake/tie, trellis/prune plants, and set posts and wires for vine plants. Lower and clip plants, remove shoots, prune, de-leaf, and harvest crops. Raise and lower vines. Pick, cut, lift, or pull crops. Must be able to identify crop types and varieties quickly as well as learn correct harvest stages for quick and efficient harvest without damaging plants. Harvest flowers by cutting stems with shears or a sharp knife. Grade and tie flowers in bunches. Locate, select, prepare, label and load harvested bunches onto wagons and trucks. Offload harvest vehicles and move buckets into storage areas. Grading and counting inventory, packing and shipping boxes. Wash and sanitize buckets, crates, and other harvest tools. Install/repair mainlines and drip irrigation systems. Move and install irrigation lines and equipment. Water plants with hose. Dig and maintain ditches. Cleaning, maintaining, and repair of farm buildings, grounds areas, and work areas. Mow, cut, and weed fields. Spread compost and mulch in fields and greenhouses. Apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other crop protectants under the direction of licensed applicator.
